Ambitious CSOs looking for their next career break would do well to focus less on technical nitty gritty and more on the skills needed to lead transformation and garner buy-in from the CEO and board. So says Clare Glackin, Head of Industrial in EMEA at global headhunter Odgers Berndtson, where she leads Chief Sustainability Officer placements.

The firm, which places C-level executives at the UK’s biggest organisations, has focused intensively on the CSO market since 2020, Glackin says. “There's no one-size-fits-all for all sectors, because they vary hugely.”
