Energy efficiency solutions provider Trane Technologies has appointed Mauro Atalla as its new Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer as Paul Camuti retires.

Reporting to Chair and CEO Dave Regnery and part of the executive leadership team, Atalla will lead the NYSE-listed company’s global product development, innovation and sustainability strategies – including integrating technologies into product road maps to align with the company’s 2030 sustainability commitments.

He joins from Collins Aerospace Systems, where he led a team of 21,000 engineers as senior vice president of Engineering & Technology, responsible for technology development, product safety and cybersecurity and sustainability.

An engineer by training, Atalla has more than 26 years of experience in the aerospace and building industries.

“Innovative technology is paramount to advancing our purpose-driven strategy. Mauro will be a great addition to our team as we continue to innovate for our customers, create value for our shareholders and contribute to a sustainable future,” commented Regnery.

Previous CTSO to retire

Atalla replaces Paul Camuti in the role as he retires at the end of the year. Camuti joined Trane Technologies in 2011 as executive vice president and Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, and led engineering, innovation and sustainability at the company for the past 13 years.

“Paul has had a long and distinguished career in technology and innovation. He played a pivotal role in shaping Trane Technologies’ sustainability strategy, technology roadmaps and helping to advance innovation to drive performance. We’re grateful for his many contributions and wish him the very best in his retirement,” added Regnery.

Trane Technologies sustainability goals

Trane Technologies’ 2030 science-based targets involve reducing Scope 1 and 2 absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% and cutting Scope 3 emissions intensity by 55% from 2019 levels.

To do that, the company has developed sustainability goals including eliminating landfill waste and reducing absolute energy consumption by 10%, as well as supporting its customer portfolio in reducing emissions by one gigatonne.
