myenergi’s Head of Sustainability: 'You've got to meet a business where it is now, not where you desperately want it to be'
To be a sustainability professional is to be simultaneously committed to a long-term vision and realistic about your starting point and the journey needed to get there: that push and pull drives a lot of Emma Brigginshaw’s work at myenergi.
Brigginshaw joined the Grimsby-based energy technology firm as Head of Sustainability and Ethics nearly three years ago when it was just six years old – and as the first person in a sustainability-focused role, she had the opportunity to develop its entire sustainability strategy from scratch.
“You've got to meet a business where it is now, not where you desperately want it to be: that's the journey you've got to take it on. So recognising that I joined a very young business in the first sustainability role that business has ever had, there's going to be a lot of work to do to build the foundations,” she tells CSO Futures.
