Members of The Climate Group’s EV100 coalition, which include Aviva, Barclays and Deloitte, continue to charge ahead with plans to electrify their fleets by 2030, with 20 companies already past the halfway point.

The 130 companies that form part of the initiative have collectively deployed more than 700,000 electric vehicles (EVs) since 2017, and 70% of them say they have been able to sustain progress and investment towards full fleet electrification over the last 12 months, despite a more challenging economic and political climate.

Some companies are ahead of the curve when it comes to electrification: 20 members including AstraZeneca, Aviva, Barclays and IKEA have already converted more than 50% of their fleets to EVs.

In total, members have committed to introducing 2.93 million light duty EVs by 2030.

Electric trucks and charging infrastructure

In 2024 alone, EV100 members added 127,000 EVs to their fleets. They are also deploying supporting infrastructure, with nearly 30,000 charging points added in 4,277 locations globally.

Even in medium and heavy duty vehicles (MHDV), where decarbonisation technologies are far less mature, companies within the coalition are making progress: nearly 400 electric trucks have been deployed by members of EV100+, the heavy-duty counterpart to EV100 whose members include Maersk, IKEA Supply, JSW Steel Limited, Unilever, Prologis and Lloyd’s Metals and Energy Limited.

130 markets covered

In the past year, EV100 and EV100+ members also increased the geographical spread of their commitments, which now cover 130 markets. Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Iran, Mali, and Uzbekistan are amongst the new countries covered by the initiative in 2024.

"Since we launched our first transport campaign, EV100, in 2017 - when electric vehicles had a market share of just 1% – members have collectively deployed over 700,000 EVs in nearly 80 markets. Over the last twelve months since our last report, members have continued to press ahead with deployment plans, and the majority of members said they could sustain progress towards full electrification by 2030 – despite challenging conditions,” said Dominic Phinn, Head of Transport, Climate Group.
