Luciano Pirovano’s proudest achievement in his 16 years as Chief Sustainability Officer of Italian multinational Bolton Food is the partnerships the company has developed with NGOs such as WWF and Oxfam.
Bolton Group manages a portfolio of 60 fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands, but 67% of its €3.2 billion turnover comes from its food products – particularly canned tuna. In 2019, Bolton Food acquired its largest tuna supplier, Tri Marine, and its 14 fishing vessels. Now, Pirovano leads sustainability for an entity that is responsible for 11% of global tuna fishing – a responsibility he and the company take very seriously.
